Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge
A playground, an animal shelter, a dog show and a borough hall. What do they all have in common? They are part of the legacy of Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge.
- Dodge Field was donated in 1923 to provide a place to play for all children in the community.
- The Morris and Essex Kennel Club Dog Show, founded in 1927, was hosted on the grounds of Hartley and Giralda Farms each year.
- Borough Hall, built in 1935, was given to the town of Madison to memorialize the Dodges’ son, Hartley, who passed away in 1930.
- In 1939, Mrs. Dodge established St. Hubert’s Giralda, an animal welfare organization to aid stray and injured dogs and cats in the area.
