Early trades and crafts in New Jersey were not limited to those of the settlers, but also included the various work of the Lenape Native Americans. This exhibit illustrated the lives of the Lenape through artifacts like bowls, ceramic vessels, baskets, a dugout canoe, and tools used for working with wood, hunting, and gardening. Visitors to the exhibit discovered what it was like to live as a Lenape prior to European colonization.
METC receives an operating support grant from the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of the Department of State.
The Museum of Early Trades & Crafts is situated on Lenapehoking, the ancestral land of the Lenape people. We pay respect to Lenape people of the past, present, and future.
