DESCRIPTION:We welcome historian Mike Snyder to discuss the impact and history of slavery in Morris County. His presentation\, as part of METC’s lecture series\, examines local slaveholders and enslaved people from the Revolution to the end of the Civil War\, connecting different pieces of evidence to tell untold stories\, help change the narrative\, and give voice and agency to marginalized people.  \nRegistration is required. Free admission is sponsored by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities.\n																														 \n Mr. Snyder was the 2012 recipient of the David Michael Friedlander Award for academic achievement from the history department at Rutgers University.

DESCRIPTION:From puppet play to storybook! Delve into narrative arts on Saturday\, March 8th at 1PM and create mice and other finger and stick puppets out of paper\, fabric\, and mixed media scraps. Guided by Book Arts Artist Mickey Waring\, each participant will create their unique critter character and props for them to interact with. In the process of making puppets\, participants will create stories to write about them in a unique matchbox artist book. \nThis drop off program is for children ages 7- 10\,  and is limited to 8 participants.  $15/child\, $5/member. Registration closes March 5.  \nAbout the Artist: Book Arts Roundtable artist Mickey Waring is an art educator\, artist\, and poet. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a FREE night of music this summer on Fridays from 6-8pm. Bring your own chair or blanket to sit and listen to some great performances sponsored by the DDC. \n \nJoin us on August 1\, for KINGS ROAD BAND. \nFormed in 2011 and named after the historic New Jersey toll road between Madison and Chatham\, the Kings Road Band plays an appealing blend of pop and rock with harmony vocals and melodic instrumentation. Drawing on a spiritual friendship and the joy of playing music\, members include Diane Smith Kirsh (vocals\, percussion)\, a voice coach and session vocalist whose work has included jingles in popular commercials\, and holiday recordings; Doug Owen (electric guitar\, vocals)\, a former middle school educator now pursuing various musical projects; Mike O’Keeffe (acoustic guitar\, vocals)\, who has been performing music since college; Fred Kornfeind (bass guitar) who has performed with Kings Road since 2022 after moving to NJ from Los Angeles and has played in a variety of bands over the years; and newest member\, Vin Marmorato (drums) who has played with NJ bands Fantasy and Crabdaddy\, backed Lisa Coppola\, and was a percussionist for the Metropolitan Orchestra of NJ.
