The readings are from Leaning Toward Light: Poems for Gardens & the Hands That Tend Them by Tess Taylor and Ann E. Wallace\, co-hosts of The WildStory Podcast. As a complement to the poetry the program\, we will also feature practical tips from native plant expert Dr. Randi Eckel in a highly anticipated\, first live Q & A session of Ask Randi. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a FREE night of music this summer on Fridays from 6-8pm. Bring your own chair or blanket to sit and listen to some great performances sponsored by the DDC. \nOur concert kicks off on June 21\, with Jumping the Gun! Jumping The Gun Band plays music from the time when FM radio ruled the airwaves\, music was played on vinyl records and cassette tapes and you purchased your stereo equipment from Crazy Eddies. Band members are Bob Rocco\, guitar and vocals\, George Mandala\, guitar and vocals\, Pete Gavalakis\, bass and vocals and Vernon Mott\, drums. They play a mix of songs from The Rolling Stones\, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen along with Lynyrd Skynyrd\, The Black Keys and Lenny Kravits. If you’re a fan of classic rock and country from the 70’s to today Jumping the Gun Band will get you on your feet and keep you rocking all night long.

SUMMARY:Downtown Concert Series: King's Road Band
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a FREE night of music this summer on Fridays from 6-8pm. Bring your own chair or blanket to sit and listen to some great performances sponsored by the DDC. \nJoin us on July 19 for King’s Road Band. Formed in 2011 and named after the historic New Jersey toll road between Madison and Chatham\, the Kings Road Band plays an appealing blend of pop and rock with harmony vocals and melodic instrumentation. Drawing on a spiritual friendship and the joy of playing music\, members include Diane Smith Kirsh (vocals\, percussion)\, a voice coach and session vocalist whose work has included jingles in popular commercials\, and holiday recordings; Doug Owen (electric guitar\, vocals)\, a former middle school educator now pursuing various musical projects; Mike O’Keeffe (acoustic guitar\, vocals)\, who has been performing music since college; Fred Kornfeind (bass guitar) who has performed with Kings Road since 2022 after moving to NJ from Los Angeles and has played in a variety of bands over the years; and newest member\, Vin Marmorato (drums) who has played with NJ bands Fantasy and Crabdaddy\, backed Lisa Coppola\, and was a percussionist for the Metropolitan Orchestra of NJ.
