SUMMARY:The Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape People and the History of their Struggles
DESCRIPTION:In recognition of National Native American Heritage Month\, METC is hosting this lecture on the untold stories of the Native American experience. Please join us to hear from Brianna Dagostino\, a member of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Native American Tribal Nation of South Jersey. This program brings to light various topics history books have hidden from society about the struggles Native Americans have endured. From residential schools\, forced misidentification on birth certificates and census\, to assimilation into settlers religion and culture; this program will help viewers gain insightful knowledge on the difficult topics that surround Native American culture. The program also highlights into the contemporary ongoing struggles of Native American communities and what viewers can do to be allies to their local Native American tribes. \nThis is a Hybrid event.
