Can You Give Us a Hand?

Like most not-for-profit museums, METC can't exist on admission and program charges alone. We depend on public and private granting agencies, and especially on the generosity of individual supporters, to fund the many activities that are necessary for us to fulfill our mission.

There are two basic ways to support our Museum:

  • Become a Member
  • Donate to our Annual Appeal

These are non-exclusive options - many people do both. Won't you join them, and us, by becoming one of our loyal supporters?

So what is the difference?

When you become a Member, you give a gift that provides returns to you. In return for your membership dues, you enjoy special members-only benefits such as free admission, discounts for special events and programs and at our Museum Shop, a subscription to our newsletter, etc. As a Member, you join our support structure and become a partner in our mission.

On the other hand, gifts to the Annual Appeal are outright, 100% tax-deductible donations that are used to support the day-to-day operations of the Museum. Your gift is an investment in the future of METC that will help us to continue to engage, enlighten and educate all visitors for years to come. You can also help to support our historic James Library building, the crown jewel of Madison's historic district.

Our members are the support structure of the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts. It costs so little to achieve so much! Members are partners in our mission to tell the story of early settlers' lifeways and to preserve and explain the timeless cultural values of pre-industrial society in America.

The Museum's non-profit structure makes membership dues a vital part of our budget. Individual membership costs just $30 for one year. If you can offer us stronger support, please join at a Family rate, or become a Patron to show your stewardship. Thank you for your support, and we hope we see you at METC soon.
